On a visit to a friend's gym, the setup was familiar - a paper register at reception, cycles tracked by memory, and a single photocopied workout sheet handed to every new member. First-time visitors and seasoned lifters walked out with identical plans.
Renewals were remembered when someone remembered them. Attendance lived in a spiral notebook that nobody flipped through. The trainers were sharp - the tooling wasn't.
